Winding through Monroe County, the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail connects more than just two towns. It connects the here-and-now to years gone by. It connects all of us to each and every ancestor who used that trail to travel anywhere. Whether on foot, on horseback, or with a team of horses and a wagon, the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail is the super highway that connects to all those who came before us. The 'Friends of the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail' embarked on a commemorative ride that started at the Jerry Costello Lock & Dam in Chester, Illinois on Friday, September 9, 2016 and ended three days later at the Courthouse in Cahokia, Illinois on Sunday, September 11, 2016. We were honored to have this group ride down the only remaining untouched portion of the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail, which is owned by us and located to the north and passing in front of the Bellefontaine House.
See more about this ride in our local newspapers: the Monroe County Independent or the Republic-Times.
